SUVA - Dignitaries, relatives and friends packed the National Gymnasium this morning to farewell John Scott the murdered director of the Fiji Red Cross Society.
Eulogies were delivered by Scott's brother, Owen Scott, and his son Piers who spoke of the dedication, hard work and kindness that were an integral partof the Red Cross boss's life.
Among the mourners were the former President's wife Adi Lady Lala Mara, members of the diplomatic corps, members of the caretaker government and close friends.
Scott was later buried at the old Suva cemetery.
Mr Scott, 53, and his partner, New Zealand-born Gregory Scrivener, 39, were found dead on July 1 in the Suva home they shared. Both had their heads virtually severed and parts of their arms chopped off.
Mr Scrivener was buried in his home town of Tauranga on Saturday.
Fiji police have charged an unemployed 23-year-old Suva man, Apitia Kaisau. He has been remanded until July 20 so that he can undergo a psychiatric assessment.
