A northerly flow covers the country today, with a slow-moving front lying over northern and central New Zealand. Tomorrow, an active front over the Tasman Sea moves onto the country, bringing a strong northeasterly flow and periods of heavy rain. On Saturday, the front moves east, followed by showery northeasterlies. On Sunday, a broad trough moves onto New Zealand, bringing rain or showers to western areas. On Monday, a ridge moves onto the North Island, bringing more settled weather.
