Situation:
A ridge of high pressure prevails across the majority of New Zealand on Sunday and Monday. However, a strong westerly flow remains about the far south of the South Island. A ridge of high pressure continues to dominate over northern and central New Zealand on Wednesday and Thursday. Meanwhile, a weakening front moves across the South Island on Thursday, followed by a showery westerly flow. On Friday, westerlies continue over the South Island, while the ridge of high pressure moves off the North Island towards the east.
