Becoming southeast 30 knots but southeast 20 knots in the north this afternoon, then becoming southeast 20 knots everywhere this evening. Very rough sea in the north. North of Tolaga Bay: Northeast swell 3 metres easing. Elsewhere: Northeast swell rising to 3 metres for a time. Southwest swell 1 metre. Poor visibility in periods of rain, heavy at times, easing this evening.

Outlook following 3 days: Thursday: Southwest 20 knots but variable 10 knots north of East Cape. Becoming northerly 10 knots in the south in the afternoon. Moderate easterly swell easing. Friday: Variable 10 knots but westerly 20 knots north of East Cape. Moderate northwest swell developing north of East Cape. Saturday: Becoming northeast 10 knots everywhere early, rising to northerly 20 knots in the morning. Moderate northwest swell north of East Cape, dying out.
