As Kiwis celebrate Team New Zealand's win this morning, and after Burling and co have taken a few swigs of Moet from the Auld Mug, the cup will be packaged up to bring back to our shores.
And while the voluptuous vessel has a long history, the case that itcomes in has been hand crafted especially for this event.
Louis Vuitton have revealed the painstaking process of making the case that will ensure our new piece of silverware is kept in perfect shape all the way to its new home.
It took four crafsmen over 400 hours to handcraft the case using hammers and stakes in the same traditional technique employed since the original America's Cup was presented in 1851.
Made in the fashion house's workshop in France, the case is adorned with the iconic Louis Vuitton Monogram canvas, signature brass locks and corners as well as the hand painted red triangle design.
The Louis Vuitton Instagram page reveals the painstaking process of hand painting the case with an extremely fine brush, to ensure perfection.

Said to perpetuate Louis Vuitton's long tradition of creating elegant and ingenious cases for travellers, it's described as showcasing "Freedom, courage, skill and competence: the true spirit of Louis Vuitton."
Louis Vuitton have also released an exclusive lifestyle collection for the America's Cup featuring nautical detailing on what they describe as elegant casual wear. The bags featured below were presented to Team New Zealand on the podium today, with a couple tossed in to the crowd.
