<p>Plans drawn up by one of New Zealand's most renowned architects for a Maori cultural centre on the Hihiaua peninsula in Whangarei have been released.</p>
<p>The cultural centre would be a showcase of Maori excellence in arts, science and technology, based on waka building and sailing, the marine environment and the traditions of Tai Tokerau, with capacity to host major exhibitions, festivals and conferences.</p>
<p>The architect is Gordon Moller, designer of the Sky Tower in Auckland.</p>
