The Hospice Wanganui Summer Garden Fete took place on Saturday and Wanganui Chronicle photographer BEVAN CONLEY was there to capture these moments.

Teams of hardy hunters combed the Whanganui River/Parapara hills for deer and pigs late last week, coming together for a weigh-in and presentations at Matahiwi on Saturday. A lot of animals were killed and the hunters and visiting celebrities enjoyed themselves. So did the supporters - who had a band, tug-of-war, food stalls and a pig carrying competition to entertain them. Wanganui Chronicle's BEVAN CONLEY went along to take pictures.

Wanganui's Cooks Gardens became a tent city at the weekend for the Cancer Society's 2013 Relay for Life. Members of 51 teams kept people on the track walking or running for 24 hours, from noon on Saturday to noon on Sunday. Games and entertainment were provided to keep them going. Many were in costume and had come in memory of a loved one, or in celebration of someone's recovery. Wanganui Chronicle photographer BEVAN CONLEY mingled with the crowds.

Seaweed swept down from the Taranaki cost and a 7-gill shark were included in the catches of the day in the 2013 Eides Sports surf fishing contest at South Beach yesterday. There were no snapper caught, and so the first prize of a $10,000 Suzuki quad went into a draw.

More than 50 muscle cars, roadsters drasters and motorcycles burned rubber and blew past the spectotors at Taupo Quay yesterday. The annual Wanganui Road Rodders drag races pulled in a strong crowd of petrol heads in warm conditions. Bevan Conley put in the earplugs and went to work.
