Festival of Cultures

Wanganui turned out to enjoy the city's Festival of Cultures that celebrated the diversity of cultures in the community at Majestic Square on Saturday. The welcome by Te Taikura o Te Awa Tupua Kapa Haka opened the day's festivities at 11am and celebrations continued until the Fijian Community Cultural Youth Group's final entertainment of the day.Chronicle photographer Rae Cliffe captured these festival images.

Aranui Primary Interschool Cross Country

The 22nd annual Aranui Primary Interschool Cross Country held at Aranui School yesterday attracted 459 children from 28 schools, ranging from Hunterville to Waverley. The grounds at Aranui School in Castlecliff were teeming with parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, and teachers, all barracking for their personal favourites. Competing students were split into two groups _ 9 and under and 10 and over. They were again split by gender. Chronicle photographer Bevan Conley was there to capture the agony and ecstasy of these young athletes in action.
