Police carry out their investigations at Taradale Primary school, Taradale, Napier, after a 9 year old pupil was found hanging out of a classroom window.

The 9-year-old boy injured in an accident at Taradale Primary School on Monday is still fighting for his life in Auckland's Starship Hospital.

Emergency services were called to the school at 1.15pm on Monday afternoon after the boy was found having difficulty breathing. Police have established the incident which resulted in the boy's injuries was an accident.

It is understood he had leapt out of a window while playing when his shirt got caught on something causing his breathing difficulties.

He was placed in an induced coma late Monday afternoon.

Taradale Primary School principal Marty Hantz said the school was working with police and the Ministry of Education to determine what had happened. Some parents took to social media to pass on their love to the family.
