Moko the cheeky bottlenose dolphin has been named on Time magazine's website as one of history's most heroic animals. Moko became famous between 2007 and 2010 for playing with humans along the east coast of the North Island. He was found dead on Matakana Island near Tauranga on July 7, 2010. We thought you might like to see some of the photos of Moko we have on file.
Tauranga's fashion elite was out in force on Saturday for one of the most important events on every punter's social calendar - Bayley's International Race Day. With three fashion in the field contests and more than $8000 of prizes up for grabs, the horses were a minor attraction. It was all about the race to be best-dressed. Click here for photo sales.

The 11-year-old Beach Hop event began as the Whangamata Rock 'n' Roll Festival in 2001. It has gotten bigger and better each year, with hot rods, dragsters, classic cars and old caravans, as well as having bands at venues around the district.
A group of six US artists, who travel the world creating unique works of sand art, made a sculpture at Mount Maunganui Main Beach, using about 40 tonnes of sand. Over 100 aspiring models registered for the New Zealand’s Next Top Model auditions at the Sebel Trinity Wharf Hotel, but only 75 met the 170cm height requirement and age restriction. To help celebrate the centenary of surf lifesaving in New Zealand, organisers of the national championships at the Mount brought back a tradition of the sport, the March Past. Diane Wilson has Tauranga's most famous face. But she's not instantly recognisable. That's because it's not the face she was born with. Born with Crouzon's Syndrome, a genetic condition that meant the bones of her skull were fused together, Diane had her first operation when she was aged just 1. And her last three years ago.
