It was sugar, spice and everything nice as children tried their hand at baking in the Little Kitchen Bakery Workshop at the weekend. Cupcakes and cookies were whipped up by children aged between 5 and 8 at Brookfield New World bakery. Hair nets and aprons were donned and there was no stopping the keen little bakers. Five-year-old Sammie Cook went along with her grandma and two other siblings. They brought home their own cupcakes and biscuits with not quite full tummies, Samie said. Grandma Erin Francis said the little bakery was "fabulous". "I had my camera going flat out. The grandchildren really enjoyed it. "They came home with muffins and biscuits and they got to decorate them as well. It was really lovely." Ten children were at Saturday's bake and even more are expected when the event is held again at the weekend. Brookfield New World in-house baker Jared Logan was happy with the children's efforts and said the baking session went "really well". "We've got a couple happening again next weekend and if we get some good numbers we might hope to have it again for a third week," he said.
